Before hiring ANY Lawyer...

(This is a Public Service Announcement that you don't want to overlook)...

You will need to have a client friendly letter of engagement in place. That means one that is submitted to your attorney by YOU. Not one that is submitted to you by them....

This is a good example of a BAD EXAMPLE. It simply doesn't offer assurances if the lawyer is careless, lacks appropriate knowledge of the representation or commits legal misconduct. It also lacks in revealing the insurance underwriter for legal malpractice.

How to get it:

I took some time in copying the sample engagement letter from the book "your lawyer on a short leash". Then, I went ahead and posted the minimums (and others) that you should submit to have agreed upon and signed with your attorney (you keeping the original of course) . I also have additional elements available in the BOX.com directory that may help you Custom-Taylor  "the letter".

Your situation in regards to your needed representation shouldn't have any roadblocks or pitfalls if a letter such as this is firmly in place.

If something like this is presented to your potential legal counsel and is discouraged against or refused, it should tell you that the attorney is up keeping their own interest in the foreground.
